Twelve D.C. projects selected for funding

On Friday, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser announced a list of 12 projects throughout the city that will benefit from the $100 million budgeted for the Housing Production Trust Fund. In a press release, DHCD identified 7 of the projects as “preservation projects” and 5 as “new production projects.” At least some of the preservation projects, however, will also include production of new units. For instance, Sarah’s Circle’s proposal for preservation of its affordable property which serves low income seniors in Adams Morgan also included the expansion of the building to add a significant number of new affordable units.

According to DHCD, the 12 projects selected for funding will house approximately 1,760 D.C. residents and will result in the preservation or production of over 800 units of affordable housing. Over 25% of the units will be targeted to residents earning 30% or less of Area Median Income. Another 50% of the units will assist residents earning 50% of AMI or less. 83 of the units will be permanent supportive housing for the homeless.
