Governor Cuomo yesterday announced the issuance of an RFP for four sites in Central Brooklyn under an initiative entitled “Vital Brooklyn.” Vital Brooklyn is comprised of eight areas: (i) Open Space and Recreation; (ii) Healthy Food; (iii) Comprehensive Education & Youth Development; (iv) Economic Development & Job Creation; (v) Community-Based Violence Prevention; (vi) Community-Based Healthcare; (vii) Affordable Housing; and (viii) Resiliency. New York State Homes and Community Renewal (“HCR”) is releasing this Request for Proposals (“RFP”) for four (4) of the eleven (11) Vital Brooklyn housing sites, which will contribute to the initiative’s goal of creating 3,000 new units of affordable housing. Three of the four sites are owned by the State of New York-controlled Interfaith Hospital; the fourth is owned by Brookdale Hospital. Each of the sites is designated for a combination of residential and community facility space. Proposals are due by July 13. Below is a link to the RFP.
