Boston affordable housing rally

On July 31st, over 500 affordable housing advocates from across Massachusetts rallied in support of affordable housing in the Our Homes, Our Voices: Rally for Affordable Homes in downtown Boston. Speakers included U.S. Representative Katherine Clark, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, leaders of housing-focused nonprofits, and ordinary residents who spoke of their struggles to secure affordable housing. The rally was organized by Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA), which urged members of the affordable housing industry to write to their U.S. Representatives and Senators and to ask Congress to lift budget caps and increase investments in affordable housing and community development programs. CHAPA’s efforts are ongoing. A sample letter prepared by Our Homes, Our Voices can be found here.
